Looking for ideas from our peers

Those of us who live with physical disabilities know that the best solutions come from our own experiences. When our voices are part of the conversation, assistive technology works more effectively, fits better, and reflects how we actually live. At Technology for Living, we are committed to advancing independence and quality of life, and that starts by listening to people who use this technology every day.

The Simon Cox Student Design Competition is built around a user-centred approach, where people with disabilities guide the design process from the very beginning. The goal is simple: develop assistive technology based on real needs, not assumptions.

Think about your daily routine. Is there a task that’s harder than it needs to be, a device that doesn’t quite fit, or a problem no one has solved yet? Whether it’s getting dressed, preparing meals, or something else entirely—tell us. Your idea can help shape new or improved technology, and we will work to connect you with a student design team to explore a practical solution.

If your idea is selected for a project, you will also be entered into a draw to win one of five $100 gift cards, drawn on the day of the competition.

Accessible, inclusive innovation happens when we lead it. Your experience matters, and your ideas can help shape what comes next.
